Hydroelectricitiy

Hydroelectricitiy is electricity generated by hydropower, the production of harnessing the power of flowing water or gravitational force of falling water. Most of Canada's electricity is generated by hydroelectricity from Niagara Falls. It is also the most used form of renewable energy. When a hydroelectric station is built it produces no direct waste, and has a low level of greenhouse gas emessions. Most hydroelectric power comes from potential energy of dammed water driving a water turbine and generator.

Advantages

- Using hydroelectric dam for energy to generate electricity is not dependent upon the price of uranium, oil, or other types of fuel making less environmental waste.
- This electicity cost less then others.
- Pollution created by hydroelectric energy generation is also less
- Hydroelectricity is also a renewabel form of energy

Disadvantages

- The hydroelectric dam requires a resevoir of water or a source of water.
- The ecosystem around the dam will change and may be destroyed
- The dam may wear down faster and may cost more to be repaired, more lives are lost per kilowatt because of dam breakage.
