Solar Power Energy

What is solar power energy?

Solar power energy is a form of renewable energy available and it can be used in several forms to help power anything. This type of energy is from the sun. Solar electricity is created by using Photovoltaic this technology converts solar energy into solar electricity from sunlight. The photovoltaic process converts free solar energy the most abundant energy source on the planet - directly into solar power. This type of energy is the most environmentally friendly type of energy. This is very convenient for small appliances and big appliances around the house. It is also useful in remote areas. The best part is it is a renewable source and does not harm anyone or anything. It has great long term potential energy.

How dose solar power energy work?

A module is a group of cells connected electrically and packaged into a frame (more commonly known as a solar panel), which can then be grouped into larger solar arrays. Photovoltaic cells are made of special materials called semiconductors such as silicon, which is used most commonly. So when light strikes the cell, a certain portion of it is absorbed within the semiconductor material. This means that the energy of the absorbed light is transferred to the semiconductor. An atom of silicon has 14 electrons, arranged in three different shells. A silicon atom will always look for ways to fill up its last shell, and to do this, it will share electrons with four nearby atoms. That's what forms the crystalline structure, and that structure turns out to be important to this type of PV cell. The only problem is that pure crystalline silicon is a poor conductor of electricity because none of its electrons are able to move freely unlike the electrons in more optimum conductors like copper.

What is solar power energy made of?

One of things that make up a solar power energy module and make it work, to convert the suns energy into electricity. Photovoltaic Cells Convert Sunlight into Electricity is one of the few ways to make and power up a solar power module. Another way is the flow of electrons.

What is the flow of electrons?

The flow of electrons is when the electrons leave their position, holes are formed. When many electrons, each carrying a negative charge, travel toward the front surface of the cell, the resulting imbalance of charge between the cell's front and back surfaces creates a voltage potential like the negative and positive terminals of a battery. When the two surfaces are connected through an external load, such as an appliance, electricity flows.

What is Photo voltaic Cells?

Photo voltaic cells are the basic building block of a photovoltaic system. Individual cells can vary in size from about 0.5 inches to about 4 inches across. However, one cell only produces 1 or 2 watts, which isn't enough power for most applications. To increase power output, cells are electrically connected into a packaged weather-tight module. Modules can be further connected to form an array. The term array refers to the entire generating plant, whether it is made up of one or several thousand modules.

The pros and cons of solar power energy:

· Powers appliances, big and small
· Environmentally friendly
· Useful in remote places
· Renewable source
· Efficiency is low
· Take up a lot of space
· Only work with sun (obviously)

Why solar power is better than other types of renewable energy:
Solar power energy is more efficent than other types of renewable energy because it is alot cheaper and more enviromentally friendly.
Solar power energy is alot cheaper than hydro electicity.
Solar power is alot less noiser than wind turbines.
Solar power energy is alot more enviormentally friendly than tidal energy.
